The MULAI cardigan is a slightly oversized cardigan with a simple, timeless form. Patch pockets and wider ribbings give it a classic look with a touch of effortless style. The thicker, more substantial fabric, knitted using two strands of MY TIME MERINO and one strand of MOHSILKO, provides extra comfort even on the coldest days. Another beautiful cardigan design by Weronika, versatile enough to complement almost any outfit.
The cardigan shown in the photos was made using a combination of two strands of MY TIME MERINO in Dark Chocolate (9305) and one strand of MOHSILKO in Dark Chocolate (4305).
In the photos, the designer is wearing size M (height: 174 cm, with approximately 40 cm of positive ease).
You’ll find more information about the project, gauge swatch, yarn requirements, and accessories below.
The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down, partly in rows and partly in the round. It is worked in stockinette stitch, with 1×1 ribbing for the cuffs and double-knitting for the button band. You begin by working the back of the cardigan, shaping the sloping shoulders using German Short Rows. You then continue working the back in rows until you reach the underarm.
Next, stitches are picked up to work the right and left front sections in rows, while simultaneously shaping the neckline. Both sections are worked separately until you reach the underarm. The two front sections and the back are then joined and worked in rows until you reach the ribbing.
The sleeves are picked up and worked in the round, with decreases worked simultaneously to shape them.
Both the folded collar and the double-knitted vertical button band are worked seamlessly. The button band is worked in double stockinette stitch, while the collar is worked in rows in 1×1 rib.
The patch pockets are worked by picking up stitches and knitting them in rows. They are then sewn onto the cardigan along their vertical edges.
